What is LGS?

In the case of calling it as light weight gauge steel bedding, it is pointed to be a kind of LGS as bedding for sticking board material such as hung ceiling, and bedding to make for sticking board to the wall, or partition wall and so on.

 

In our above sentences, 6mm or thinner steel is called light gauge steel.

Except for attaching part, the steel thickness is about 0.5mm to 1.6mm.

 

Type C steel, or hollow inside square steel are used for LGS.

 

Features of LGS

As our anew explanation, comparing with wooden axis used as bedding material instead of LGS in the past, there are merits of using LGS such as,

 

・Fire resistant.

・Excelling in dimensional stability.

・Supplying is stable, inexpensive.

・Can do bend processing.

 

So, all above can be said features.

 

As its material is iron, compared with wooden axis, it has stronger fire-resistancy, so if fire should occur, safety is high.

In addition, wood is easy to occur crook and expansion・contraction by humidity. But, iron hardly occurs these.

Furthermore, compared with wood, because LGS is supplied stable, material cost is inexpensive.

(Naturally, it does not mean to be uninfluenced by commodity price.)

 

As for bend processing, we already explained a few times in our blog too.

It is pointed to be bending steel frame, for bedding to make curved wall or pillar.

For this kind of processing, wooden axis is not used now. LGS is used for this kind of process now.

 

Its demerits are as follows:

・Specialized skilled worker is necessary. (As for wood, if there is carpenter, it is OK. However, as for LGS bedding, LGS・board skilled worker is necessary.)

・As the standard is decided in advance before material delivery, fine adjustment at the site is difficult.

Ceiling

At a mass sale shop skeleton work site, a situation where ceiling LGS is newly being executed construction work.

 

In the case of ceiling, as the above picture generally, by using「hung bolt」, bolt is hung from concrete surface, ceiling is mounted up as square shaped, then ceiling material is gone to be sticked from bottom.

In the case of wall, part material the name changes. We put up part materials of horizontal material called runner at the floor side and ceiling side (upper end), and a part material called stud at upper part and lower part at a certain interval. Furthermore, we use a part material for rolling countermeasure called steady stop at a certain interval.

(As for steady stop, if strength standard can be cleared, then some may be omitted.)
